CORREALE MUSEUM SORRENTO
Enter a fascinating, versatile and history-rich place
Generous and enlightened donation from Count Alfredo Correale and his brother Pompeo, last descendants of an ancient and noble Neapolitan family.
The two brothers, refined and cultured collectors, arranged for their works of art to be brought together in the Villa alla Rota which had belonged to the family for centuries and to constitute a museum named after them.
The Correale Museum, inaugurated on 10 May 1924, is divided into five floors, the result of important conservative restoration works which will see the light in 2024: an Archaeological Section, a Ground Floor with the Library, the Hall of the Founders and the Archaeological Section, a Noble Floor on the first floor with the famous Hall of Mirrors and the Room of Wonders, a second floor, renamed "Blue Floor" which periodically hosts temporary exhibitions and the Third Floor with a large collection of European porcelain, majolica and, on the on the mezzanine, the presence of Neapolitan shepherds from the 18th century.
From the entrance hall, it is possible to access the Park and, crossing the typical Sorrento citrus grove avenue, reach the prestigious panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, to enjoy the splendid landscape of the Gulf of Naples.

WORKSHOP MUSEUM OF WOOD INLAY - CITY OF SORRENTO
Immerse yourself in the traditional art of wooden inlay at the Museobottega della Tarsia Lignea, where craftsmanship blends with history.
In the ancient center of the city, on the two floors of the restored Palazzo Pomarici Santomasi, a rich collection of furniture and objects of typical Sorrento craftsmanship is exhibited, with fine pieces of furniture from the 1400s to the 19th centuries by national and Sorrento masters of wooden inlay. A technique of which around seven hundred skilled craftsmen are still present in the area today who continue that historic process with an updating of the design and processing phases.
A Workshop Museum "as its founder, architect Alessandro Fiorentino, uses to define it" which illustrates the manufacturing techniques from "mosaic" to "riccio", the materials used, the decorative themes, with original pieces on display and period photos of the artisans in the various stages of production. A technical and artistic journey, which culminates with the setting up on the upper floor of the structure of nineteenth-century corners and rooms of the noble houses of Sorrento, with studies, beautiful "secreters", bedrooms, relaxation spaces, and particular pieces such as game containers collectives, up to the new contemporary creations proposed by some of the major national and international designers such as Portoghesi, Sawaya, Morandini, Alison, Mendini, D'Alisi and by Fiorentino himself. The museum's collection includes a series of paintings by Italian and foreign artists of the 19th century, such as Carelli, Pitloo, la Volpe, Colemann, Scedrin, complemented by period prints and photos.

SORRENTO EXPERIENCE MUSEUM
Discover history, traditions and legends of the Sorrento Peninsula
Sorrento Experience is a multimedia exhibition created to introduce tourists and, why not, also to those who live on the coast and in the surrounding areas, the history, habits and customs of Sorrento. Born from the intuition of Antonino Pane, an eclectic entrepreneur who decided to give life to a one-of-a-kind project, Sorrento Experience is an idea that comes from afar, when in the 90s the founder worked as a hotel doorman and listened the guides praise the beauties of other locations and not of Sorrento. Today Pane finally realizes his dream: an exhibition itinerary that winds through installations, artistic elements and works resulting from the creativity of master craftsmen.
Entering the building in via Sersale you come across a painting depicting Torquato Tasso. Approaching the painting, the great poet begins to speak, illustrating to the visitor the most important aspects of his life and his connection with his hometown. Further on, after meeting the mythical mermaids who bewitched Ulysses, you come across another suggestive passage, the one which, through a video reconstruction, allows you to relive the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Crossing the corridors that look like caves made of tuff ashlars, partly paved with paving stones, you can admire the photographs of the characteristic corners and the characters who brought prestige to the city. They range from ancient Sorrento to the panoramas of the gulf, up to the portraits of Sophia Loren. There is no shortage of references to local craftsmanship such as nativity scene art and inlaying. Without forgetting the tradition of hooded processions and Easter rites. There is also a wooden boat that brings to mind the activity of the fishermen of the seaside villages and the work of the shipwrights who made them. The tribute to music could not be missing. A space houses an organ and an old gramophone which spreads the notes of the songs dedicated to Sorrento with the voices that made them unforgettable, from Lucio Dalla to Enrico Caruso.
A unique multimedia experience!
