Herculaneum
Itinerary
If you're staying in Naples, you can reach Herculaneum in less than 20 minutes by purchasing a ticket on the Circumvesuviana train line departing from Naples Porta Nolana or Naples Garibaldi stations. The ticket office is located a few steps from the Feltrinelli bookshop. Choose a train bound for Poggiomarino via Scafati or Torre Annunziata and get off at Herculaneum.
Go to our I Point Ercolano tourist office and collect your voucher to visit Herculaneum, just a 10-minute walk downhill. Meet your group guide at 10:30 AM and be inspired by the history of the site destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius on August 24, 79 AD.
Afterwards, you can enjoy a lunch break and return to our office for the bus departing for Vesuvius at 3:00 PM. With a guaranteed stop of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, you can hike along trail no. 5 Gran Cono to reach the volcano's crater, where you can admire the fumaroles and enjoy a unique panorama.
You will return to the station square at the end of the tour on the same bus you took to return to Naples or other nearby destinations.
